London—The Iranian government has restricted using foreign technologies for new direct reduction modules, according to Hasan Karbaschi, managing director of MME,as posted on the Iranian Steel Producers Association (ISPA) website.
MME is an Iran-origin company registered in Germany that invented and patented Pered DRI technology in 2007.
Iran's nominal DRI/HBI capacity is currently 34 million mt/year, but this is planned to be increased to about 50 million mt/year by 2025 on the back of Pered technology.
